View Synopsis Featuring PHILIP EDMONDS, Director, British Humanitarian Aid.

British Humanitarian Aid basically recycles unwanted goods from the UK to people who are living in total poverty and great hardship in Chernihiv region in Ukraine.

The majority of our aid comes from churches, schools and private individuals and a few firms who have supported us loyally over the last few years. The goods that they supply are basically unwanted, the majority probably comes down to clothing but then shoes, toys, bedding, anything virtually that we can use for the people out in Ukraine. Ranging to electric wheelchairs, bicycles, climbing frames for the children's homes. If people don't want it in this country then we have a home for it.

The huge stack of bags in the corner is sorted into various categories, clothing into men's, women's, older children, children and babies and then everything else according to its type. And from then on boxes are sealed weighed, recorded and placed onto huge palettes, ready for transport to Ukraine.

The total aid this year will be somewhere around 70 tonnes, which is six lorries basically. Each lorry if you were to put charity shop prices on it, each lorry is sending stuff out to the value of about £30,000. So it's a fairly considerable contribution out there.

We've had lots of offers of help recently, but we still need more, if you would like to help full details of our work and contact are on the website, thank you very much.
